Fatal Frame details-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 10:38 PM

Tecmo has today revealed details on some of the ways the forthcoming Xbox version of Fatal Frame will improve upon the PS2 version released in March.

The game puts players in the role of a girl called Miku who is searching for her older brother in the haunted Himuru mansion. Instead of being armed with guns, knives, and the like--as is normally the case in survival horror games--Miku is armed only with an antique camera and a few rolls of film. Taking pictures of the various supernatural beings in the game harms them, and as players progress through the game, they will be rewarded with different types of film and upgrades for the camera to make it more effective.

Aside from the inevitable graphical improvements being made for the Xbox version, the game will feature numerous new interior items spread throughout the game, new hidden costumes for Miku to unlock, and more than 10 brand-new ghosts. There will also be a brand new "fatal" gameplay mode that, if players are able to cope with the increased difficulty and a terrifying new enemy, will unlock an alternative ending.

"It gave us a chance to utilize all the great feedback we received from the PS2 version," said John Inada, director of sales and marketing for Tecmo. "Then, by using some of the unique capabilities of the Xbox, we were able to create a version that is richer in detail, offers improved gameplay, and is even more terrifying than the first."

Fatal Frame is scheduled for release on October 31. For more information, check out our PS2 version of the game.
