Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be releasing during Fall 2017, at least that’s what EA has been hinting at during its most recent earnings call.
The next Battlefront was already confirmed during an earlier conference call, and according to EA’s CFO, Blake Jorgensen, we’re looking at a release “a year from now”. Jorgensen said as much during EA’s investor earnings call when asked about a next Battlefront title, and whether it could offset the recently released Battlefield 1.
Yes, we have talked obviously about the next Battlefront coming a year from now. We're working very hard on making sure that is an extremely deep and engaging offering. We've talked about an action title that's not yet announced, but we're very excited, and a good chance that will fall into FY18. I'm not yet giving guidance for FY18, so I want to be careful that we don't get overboard, but we're confident that we should be able to comp a strong year this year.
“We’ll most likely have one Star Wars title a year for the next three to four years,” Jorgensen said during EA’s 4th quarter earnings call for FY2016 back in May of this year. “Next year we’ll see Star Wars battlefront back with bigger and better worlds, because we now have the new movies to work off of, not just the historical movies that we used before”,
Star Wars Battlefront was released last year for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. It’s fourth and final DLC, Star Wars: Battlefront Rogue One, is set on the planet of Scarif and will release this December around the launch of the Star Wars Rogue One movie.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will likely be released on PC/XO/PS4 with support for Sony's PS4 Pro and the upcoming Xbox Scorpio. Whether the next Battlefront will release on Nintendo's upcoming Nintendo Switch is uncertain.
