Exoprimal Launch Content Detailed; Will Get Collaboration Content With Other CAPCOM’s Franchises After Launch-January 2024
Jan 13, 2025 12:35 AM

Last month, players all over the world were able to get a taste of the experience that CAPCOM's Exoprimal will offer when it launches this Summer on PC and consoles. Judging from what the Japanese publisher revealed, it was a rather small taste.

With a new message shared on the game's official website, CAPCOM revealed in detail the content that will be available in Exoprimal at launch. This will include missions without direct combat between players, cutscenes and story-related missions that will let players delve deeper into the game's world and characters, 10 players co-op missions with a variety of different objectives, equipment called Modus that will allow for greater customization of Exosuits and more.

Being a live service game, Exoprimal will get new content after launch. According to CAPCOM, the game will get Exosuit variants that will allow for different playstyles, such as a Deadeye suit with a burst-fire rifle that can also be used as a shotgun, and collaboration with other CAPCOM titles. The latter is nothing new for the publisher, as Monster Hunter Rise did get collaboration content based on other properties from the publisher.

Mission variety was definitely one of the biggest issues I noticed in the Exoprimal open beta. While the gameplay is fun enough, the game's success will ultimately depend on how well it will be supported after launch. With live service games struggling outside of a few successful ones, CAPCOM will really have to offer something unique if they want their game to stand out from other similar titles. You can learn more about Exoprimal by checking out my preview.

What Exoprimal seems to get right is the gameplay, although the map design doesn't feel particularly exciting. The open beta only features a single mode called Dino Survival, a PvE mode with sprinkles of PvP thrown in that pits teams of five players against one another, challenging them to complete a variety of missions before the opponents. These missions, which range from simple dinosaur culling to protecting objectives, are set in moderately intricate maps that don't seem to influence gameplay too much. In Dino Survival mode, the game itself guides players from one objective to the other, so map design feels pretty much inconsequential, but things may change in the final game with other play modes.

Exoprimal releases on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One on July 13th. The game will also be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
