EVE: The Second Genesis goes gold-October 2024
Oct 25, 2024 8:22 AM

Iceland-based Crowd Control Productions has today announced that EVE: The Second Genesis has gone gold, meaning that although development is ongoing on the server side of EVE, the client portion of the game is finished and is now being prepared for retail. CCP also announced today that it has dropped the nondisclosure agreement it had with beta testers of the game.

"Our flagship is built, and we're fine-tuning the engine as we're about to set sail," said Reynir Hardarson, art director and cofounder of CCP Games. "Many fan and news sites have been compiling extensive databases of information on EVE such as maps, strategy guides, and so many other things. It's really amazed us how the fans have driven the EVE universe, even though the game has not yet shipped. Dropping the NDA will give them the opportunity to share these things with everyone."

Scheduled to launch on May 6, EVE: The Second Genesis is a massively multiplayer game set in a gigantic online universe spanning more than 5,000 solar systems. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
