Lucasfilm on Thursday released to the Internet the second trailer for its upcoming film, StarWars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace, now due in theatres on Wednesday, May 19, instead of May 21.
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer (known as trailer "B") features all new footage from the movie.
"This is the last trailer before the release of Episode I," said Jim Ward, Lucasfilm's Director of Marketing, "and we wanted something that would blow the fans away and sustain them during the last stretch before the movie opens."
A number of QuickTime 3.0 videos are available, including a 25-megabyte 480x216 video. Of course, the main web sites and mirrors are jammed, but a few links to mirror sites on the right might help. A new movie poster is also available on the Star Wars web site.
The new trailer is expected to hit theatres on Friday, March 12, though reportedly it will not be shown exclusively before Fox 2000's Wing Commander movie, as previously thought. Which trailers are shown with what movies is a decision is, for the most part, left up to the individual theater's management.
