Enchanted Sequel Adds Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown, And Jayma Mays To Cast-September 2024

Disenchanted, the upcoming sequel to the 2007 Disney hit Enchanted, has added three new cast members. Deadline reports that Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jayma Mays have all joined the movie, which will premiere on Disney+.

No details about their characters have been revealed yet. Rudolph is best known for her roles in Bridesmaids and on Saturday Night Live, as well as the voice of Connie in Big Mouth. Brown starred as Shirley Bennett in five seasons of Community, while Mays appeared as Joanna in Bill & Ted Face the Music and as Emma Pillsbury in Glee.

Disenchanted will reunite original stars Amy Adams, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden, in their roles of Giselle, Nancy, and Prince Edward respectively. Enchanted was a romantic fantasy comedy that mixed live-action with animated sequences, and it was a critical and commercial hit when it hit theaters in November 2007. It made more than $340 million at the worldwide box office.

The new movie will be directed by Adam Shankman, who previously helmed The Wedding Crashers, What Men Want, and episodes of Glee, Happy Valley, and Being Mary Jane. Disenchanted doesn't currently have a release date, but with production starting later this year, a 2022 release date is likely.

Disenchanted isn't the only sequel to a much-loved movie currently in development at Disney+. In December, it was confirmed that the Hocus Pocus sequel was finally happening. Shankman was originally announced as the director, but it was recently reported he had been replaced by Anne Fletcher. It's not been confirmed if stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy will return, but all three actors have previously expressed an interest in reprising their iconic roles.
