Elder Scrolls Legends Delayed to 2016
Elder Scrolls Legends Delayed to 2016-December 2024
Dec 14, 2024 12:52 AM

The Elder Scrolls Legends will not make it out this year as was previously planned. Bethesda's Pete Hines confirmed on Twitter that the free-to-play collectible card game has been pushed out of 2015 so the development team can spend more time getting the game polished and ready for launch.

"I think it's safe to say it's not coming in the next 15 days," Hines said to a fan, referencing the end of 2015.

The Elder Scrolls Online is already up and running; Hines said he's currently playing the game. But the final, finished consumer version is not going to make it out this year. The fan said he hopes the delay means the final product is a "more polished and better game at release." Hines responded by saying, "That's the idea."

The game was announced during Bethesda's E3 briefing in June. No gameplay was shown in the debut trailer, nor has any footage been released since.

What we do know, however, is that Elder Scrolls Legends will include Khajiit, Orcs, Elves, Nords, and Ghouls in some way. The game, which will be available for mobile devices and PC, appears to be Bethesda's answer to Blizzard's hugely popular Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

Bethesda hasn't promoted the game much since June. We'll have more details on The Elder Scrolls Legends as they're made available.

The Elder Scrolls Legends won't be Bethesda's first mobile game, as the studio released Fallout Shelter back in June in the lead-up to the release of Fallout 4. Just this month, too, Bethesda opened a development studio that will work on mobile, PC, and console games, though what connection it has to The Elder Scrolls Legends remains to be seen.
