ECTS: Necrocide Turns Tide at NovaLogic
ECTS: Necrocide Turns Tide at NovaLogic-April 2024
Apr 18, 2025 6:27 PM

From Comanche to Delta Force, NovaLogic has established itself as a maker of action games based on real-world military combat. In an unlikely move, today at ECTS the company announced Necrocide: The Dead Must Die. The game is set in real-world locations invaded by armies of undead. You play as a vampire huntress on a crusade to eradicate the undead and save the living. Though the premise may be somewhat reminiscent of the movie Blade, Necrocide is more eclectic in its choice of undead enemies. Among those you will encounter are werewolves, necromancers, zombies, succubae, demons, and hellhounds.

Necrocide will play like a first-person shooter and will use the Delta Force: Landwarrior engine. This engine is perhaps the most flexible of that of any NovaLogic game, as it is capable of using 3D cards to accelerate both indoor and outdoor scenes. The outdoor terrain is some of the most subtly shaded of any engine, thanks to NovaLogic's voxel technology that renders a volume of cross-sectioned space, not just textured surfaces. This approach allows terrain to be clear and sharp all the way to the horizon.

Much of Necrocide's concept was only finalized in these last few weeks, so NovaLogic could say very little about actual missions or gameplay. The game is scheduled for release in early 2001, and GameSpot will bring you more details on Necrocide in the coming months.
