Saying the results were in line with expectations, specialty game retailer Electronics Boutique Holdings last week reported earnings for the quarter ending October 30, 2004. Total revenue was $446 million, up 37 percent from the same quarter a year ago. Profit for the quarter totaled $7.3 million, up substantially from the $1.5 million profit reported a year earlier. CEO and president Jeff Griffiths acknowledged the strong lineup of products released in the August-October quarter as driving sales: "A strong lineup helped drive positive results...led by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. EA's Madden, Microsoft's Fable, and Take-Two's ESPN NFL 2K5 were top sellers and all exceeded our initial expectations." Griffiths cited the early launch of Sony's new PS2 model as bolstering the company's revenues as well.
