Westwood Studios has released new information about the Terran culture that will be featured in its upcoming online role-playing game, Earth and Beyond Online. The game is set in a sci-fi universe, and players will assume the role of a character in one of three main cultures--the Terran, the Progen, and the Jenquai.
The Terran culture is primarily focused on trade and economic expansion. Terrans are constantly trying to gain wealth, and they judge one another by how much they have. There are four major families that control the primary corporations in the Terran culture. These families are the House MacGregor, which operates InfinitiCorp; the House Naverre, which operates the Good Earth Trading Company; the Obata; and the Orsini. Each family has its own security force and space fleet.
Earth and Beyond Online will include a huge persistent universe filled with hundreds of planets. Players will explore, inhabit, and fight for control of territory. Players can earn experience points and currency through a variety of quests, and they can use currency to add upgrades to their ships.
Earth and Beyond Online is scheduled for release in early 2002. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game. To learn more about the Terran culture, visit the official Earth and Beyond Online Web site.
