According to EA’s executive Vice President, Patrick Söderlund, Nintendo is walking a different path with the Nintendo Switch, and third-party developers have been involved since the start of the platform’s development.

　　The Wii U severely lacked third-party support, and although EA initially supported the Wii successor, the console was quickly abandoned when EA decided to focus on Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One.  “When you have new technology like these two platforms represent and you have game teams focused on it, you can only do so much. And even though we have a lot of people we have decided for now… and I can only speak for my label… that we focus on the previous platforms, PS3 and Xbox 360, as well as PC, Xbox One and PS4”, Söderlund said back in 2013.

　　Things are different with the Switch if EA is to be believed, and some days ago, Söderlund expressed his appreciation for Nintendo’s new platform, praising the company for its different approach and how they force gamers to think differently.

　　In a recent interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, the EA executive again talked about Nintendo's new platform and how Nintendo's approach towards third-party developers is different this time around.

　　“I only spoke about FIFA today, but our company’s structure lets us release all sorts of games for every platform, so we’ll go wherever the gamers go. I think Nintendo Switch will put Nintendo at the forefront of the game industry once again. Their approach is quite different from anything they’ve done in the past – they’ve listened to EA, Activision, and other companies since the beginning of the Switch’s development, so we’ve been involved throughout the whole process. They teamed up with us because they wanted to guarantee the console would be successful. Doing business with Nintendo is very important for us… We’d like to bring more and more games over for everyone.”

　　EA has only officially announced a new FIFA for the Nintendo Switch, but it would seem that more games will be heading towards it.
