E3 Day One is Sports Day-October 2024
Oct 18, 2024 4:43 AM

As I said on my Editor on the Hour appearance during today's gargantuan live coverage of E3: Day One of E3 was Sports Day. Okay, maybe it wasn't officially Sports Day, but considering the amount of information we published on sports games from all over the show floor, it sure as heck felt like it. If it wasn't a hands-on look at Top Spin 2 for XBox 360, it was an in-depth sneak peek at the new swing mechanic in Tiger Woods 06 for the same console. Speaking of Microsoft's new console, we've got impressions of a whole slew of 360 games like NBA 2K6, NBA Live 06, FIFA 06, and more.

As far as my personal impressions of the day, I'm disappointed that EA wasn't more forthcoming with the gameplay details of their XBox 360 games. It's even more distressing when you consider the facts we do know--such as Tiger's mere six courses and nine playable pros--points to a possibly severe paring down of content in order to get these titles out for the XBox 360 launch. Let's hope that isn't the case because, in the case of a console as powerful as the XBox 360, it would be a shame to not have fully featured launch games that truly show it off.
