During its pre-E3 conference today, Nintendo reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the connectivity feature of the GameCube and Game Boy Advance and stated that companies such as Sega, Square, and Electronic Arts have released or will release games that support it. The first game to really push the connectivity between the two platforms will be Animal Crossing (known in Japan as Animal Forest). By using the link between the Game Boy Advance and the GameCube, players will be able to access an entirely new island in the Animal Crossing World, get new clothes for characters, and even play classic Nintendo games like Donkey Kong on their Game Boy Advance.
Other games that will support the GC-GBA connectivity include Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse (for the GameCube) and Disney's Magical Quest Starring Mickey & Minnie (a GBA port of the SNES game developed by Capcom). According to Nintendo, players will be able to transmit items that are available only in the Game Boy Advance game to the GameCube game.
In some cases, this feature will take a different form. For the game called Roll-o-Rama, the Game Boy Advance will function as a tilt unit that helps guide the main character through the game's various levels. In a game called Stage Debut, players will be able to integrate their face into the GameCube version by taking a picture of themselves with the Game Eye accessory for the Game Boy Advance.
Nintendo went on to say that more than 20 games in development currently support the GC-GBA connectivity feature. Stay tuned for more information on these games.
