Electronic Arts informed GameSpot News on Wednesday that the Dungeon Keeper Gold Edition, due for release early next month, will in fact be equipped with the Direct3D driver. The driver is designed to improve the overall look of the game.
The gold edition will include Dungeon Keeper, the Deeper Dungeons mission disk with over 30 new missions, a level editor so you can create your own levels, and a Windows theme back so you can give your desktop all the evil it can take (remember, evil is good).
A spokesperson for the company said, "it will actually be even more fun to possess creatures with the D3D patch installed."
If you already own Dungeon Keeper and the Deeper Dungeons, the Direct3D patch will be available on the Web once the gold edition of is released. Gamers will also be able to download the level editor. The only hitch with the level editor is that you'll need to have the Deeper Dungeons disk due to some of the changes that Deeper Dungeons makes to the DK engine.
Here's an exclusive look at the first shots of the D3D version.
