Wondering when you'll get to play a game or two with that brand new DVD-ROM player sitting in your computer? Digital Leisure announced the release of the classic arcade game Dragon's Lair for DVD-ROM. It says the game will be available at CompUSA and a few other retailers.
Digital Leisure holds the rights to Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, and Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp games, featuring animation by Don Bluth. The code has been rewritten to duplicate the arcade feel, and the rerelease even includes some scenes left out from many previous versions. The game features MPEG2 compression and AC3 audio from the original source.
A complete version of Space Ace is also on the DVD-ROM.
"Until now, computer adaptations of Dragon's Lair have been grainy and have had some of the scenes missing," says Elizabeth Foster, president of Digital Leisure. "With the power of DVD, computer owners and DVD-Video owners can now enjoy Dragon's Lair just as it was in the arcades. Game players will be very impressed with the quality of the video."
