Dragon Sword Cancellation Explained
Dragon Sword Cancellation Explained-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 7:42 AM

Blitzgames, which was formerly known as Interactive Studios, has been developing Dragon Sword for a long time, and several publications, including GameSpot, have reported on the game. GameSpot has recently learned that the game was has been canned, but little explanation for this move has been offered. Naturally, GameSpot News got in touch with the developer, who is currently working on titles such as Frogger 2 and the Chicken Run, and spoke with Caroline Hart of Blitzgames.

Apparently, MGM Interactive didn't want to publish the game because the expected revenue would most likely not cover the production and marketing the costs for the title. The game was actually completed by Blitzgames, but MGM Interactive decided at the last minute not to take it any farther. Petitions were started by several publications to save the game, with no success. Dragon Sword may have been too much of a risk for MGM, who has primarily worked on games based on licenses.

Representatives of MGM Interactive were not available for comment at press time.
