Up until now, Bandai Namco and Arc System Works haven't talked much about the Dragon Ball FighterZ single player modes. Considering other games developed by the team, the game based on the manga series created by Akira Toriyama will definitely include plenty of stuff to keep players not planning to play online too much happy, and recently some new details on what to expect have emerged online.
Speaking at the EVO Championships 2017 with Red Bull, Dragon Ball FighterZ producer Tomoko Hiroki mentioned that the team is planning to take a new approach to the story like it's been done in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse games, so players shouldn't expect to play through the classic Dragon Ball Z storyline as they know it.
We can't give specifics, but we plan on taking another new approach to the story like Xenoverse did
Tomoko Hiroki also talked about post-launch support, confirming that Dragon Ball FighterZ will receive content like the Xenoverse games did. No mention of possible DLC characters has been made, however.
On top of this, Tomoko also mentioned wanting to support the game after release in a similar way to what was done with Dragon Ball Xenoverse. While Xenoverse did receive story, costume and character updates, no specifics were given as to what would be done for FighterZ.
Dragon Ball FighterZ launches next year on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
