Dragon Ball Episode Remade With Over 200 Different Art Styles
Dragon Ball Episode Remade With Over 200 Different Art Styles-January 2024
Jan 10, 2025 7:03 PM

Before Dragon Ball Z, there was simply Dragon Ball, which depicted Goku and many of the other classic characters as their younger selves. One of the early episodes features Goku learning the iconic Kamehameha, and now, a team of more than 200 animators has remade the entire episode (via io9).

The Seven Star Re-Animate project was an open-call initiative to recreate the episode, The Kamehameha Wave, shot for shot. The project was a non-profit tribute to the anime, and and the shots were assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The video uses the episode's audio, but the visuals were entirely up to the animator. You can see how it turned out in the Dragon Ball Reanimate video below. It's worth noting that it contains some adult content.

Some of the new shots make Master Roshi seem even more creepy than he did before, and others make me wish we could see whole episodes done in these styles. The video's description says it'll be updated with annotations, which will name the artist of each shot and link to their sites. We've contacted Seven Star Re-Animate and asked if there are plans to recreate episodes of Dragon Ball or any other show. We'll update this article if we hear back.
