Doom 64 is a Doom Eternal Pre-Order Bonus on all Platforms, Retrotastic Trailer Released-October 2024

During the most recent Nintendo Direct, it was announced that the cult-classic Doom 64 would be a pre-order bonus for those buying Doom Eternal on the Nintendo Switch. Needless to say, folks planning to play on other platforms were just a bit jealous, but Bethesda has now made things right, announcing Doom 64 as a pre-order bonus for all versions of Doom Eternal. You can check out a trailer for the newly revamped and remastered version of the game, below.

For those in need of a gaming history brush up, Doom 64 wasn’t just a port of the PC game – it was a completely original sequel to the first two games designed for the ground up for the N64, and was, by all accounts, quite good. Ah, but because the game was developed by Midway and not id Software, it was never re-released in any form, attaining a somewhat mythical status as a result. Here’s how Bethesda describes the classic game:

Doom 64 was originally released on 31st March, 1997 for Nintendo 64. With more than 30 action-packed levels, Doom 64 is back and better than ever, giving newcomers and lifelong fans alike a new opportunity to rip and tear. The free Doom 64 digital download is available with any past, present, or future pre-order of Doom Eternal between now and its March, 2020 launch date.

Those who pre-order Doom Eternal will also get the “Rip and Tear Pack,” which includes the DOOT Revenant player skin, Throwback Shotgun Weapon skin, Cultist Base Master Level, a remix of the main game’s Cultist Base level, and some other goodies. Check out a pre-order trailer, below.

Doom 64 launches alongside Doom Eternal on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on March 20, 2020. Nintendo Switch owners can buy Doom 64 as a standalone game on March 20. Switch users can also get the game as a free pre-order bonus, but they won't be able to play until Doom Eternal hits the platform (it’s launching sometime after the other versions).
