Divinity: Original Sin 2 Video Shows Multiplayer Action
Divinity: Original Sin 2 Video Shows Multiplayer Action-November 2024
Nov 24, 2024 11:24 PM

The first Divinity: Original Sin 2 video demonstrating multiplayer action is now circulating on the Web, and we've embedded it below for your viewing pleasure.

One of the main new features of this sequel is the increased support for multiplayer: whereas the first game only allowed two players to play cooperatively, this time around up to four players can participate in the same session; moreover, there are also competitive elements now.

In multiplayer, up to 4 players can play together, either cooperatively or competitively.

During competitive questing, you’ll pursue different plot-lines from other players, often because your personal motivations are in conflict with those of the party.

There's no obligation to compete, of course. Many party members will manage to balance their own interests with those of the party. Should you find yourself in conflict, know that it's always possible to make up afterwards.

The important thing here is that it's you who gets to make that choice.

This video shows how all of this works in practice, and it's certainly intriguing to say the least.

In the meantime, Divinity: Original Sin 2 keeps crushing stretch goals on its Kickstarter campaign. So far, the game gathered over $1.25 M which means that the game will feature a Strategist mode, racial skills and undead origins (yes, that means you will be able to play as an undead). At $1.5 M, Larian Studios promised to add the Hall of Echoes, a spirit land which will function as the player's home base.

With 23 days still to go, I expect the funding to reach at least $2M - hopefully that'll be enough to make Larian reconsider their current stance on voice acting, which is not presently planned for Divinity: Original Sin 2 despite being scheduled for the Enhanced Edition of the first game; it would be quite disappointing to go back to text-only dialogue after getting used to voice-over.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 will release on PC in December 2016, though with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One getting Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition soon, it's easy to assume that consoles will eventually get the sequel too.
