Officials in Orange County, California have announced that Disneyland in Anaheim will become the first large-scale "point of dispensing" (POD) site for COVID-19 vaccines in the area.

　　While Disney World in Florida has re-opened, Disneyland and California Adventure remain closed to guests due to the virus, making this one of the first times the public is being allowed back in.

　　"The Disneyland Resort, the largest employer in the heart of Orange County, has stepped up to host the county's first Super POD site--undertaking a monumental task in our vaccination distribution process," local government official Andrew Do said in a news release.

　　Disneyland is a "Super POD" site, and that means it has the capacity to vaccinate "thousands" of local residents each day. There are four other Super POD sites in Orange County, while additional sites will be announced later.

　　The first wave of vaccines to be distributed at the site will go to people 75 and older, along with first responders. People eligible for the vaccine will be notified by a health care provider, and vaccinations will start this week at Disneyland.

　　There is no word yet on when Disneyland and California Adventure will officially re-open for guests; that will depend on government guidelines. In Florida, Disney World is operating with a number of new measures such as mandatory masks and temperature checks.
