Disneyland Resort Delays Reopening Date
Disneyland Resort Delays Reopening Date-October 2024
Oct 18, 2024 8:24 AM

After previously announcing its intention to reopen Disneyland and Disney California Adventure on July 17, the Disney company has revealed that date is being pushed back. A new date has not been decided on yet.

Disney announced the relayed reopening in a press release, writing, "The State of California has now indicated that it will not issue theme park reopening guidelines until sometime after July 4. Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials. Once we have a clearer understanding of when guidelines will be released, we expect to be able to communicate a reopening date."

While the state of California has not approved Disneyland's reopening plan yet, Disney World is much closer to welcoming guests again. Florida has approved the company's reopening plan, which will begin on July 11.

While Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, as well as the resort's hotel offerings, no longer have a set date for reopening, that is not the case for the Downtown Disney District shopping center. As previously announced, the outdoor mall will be open to the public on July 9, with new health and safety guidelines for visitors and guests--including required masks and temperature checks.

Thus far, Universal Studios Orlando is the biggest theme park in the United States to reopen during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. GameSpot's Chris E. Hayner visited the park to experience the new procedures first-hand, which you can read about here.
