Digital Jesters today announced that it will publish D-Day in the UK in August. The World War II strategy game, which was first announced by Monte Cristo Multimedia last month, is currently in development at Digital Reality.
"Fans were crying out for more after the highly successful Desert Rats vs. Afrika Korps game. D-Day will provide fans and newcomers alike with a satisfying gaming experience, this time backed up by the welcome involvement of the Normandie Memoire association, ensuring a historically accurate battle," said Leo Zullo, marketing director at Digital Jesters. "Every effort has been made to create an enjoyable game that does justice to the bravery of the soldiers involved in one of the most famous battles in the history of mankind."
D-Day will use an enhanced version of the Walker 2 graphics engine that powered Desert Rats vs. Afrika Korps, and it will also boast a much-improved and historically accurate tactical combat system. The game will feature a total of 12 missions across three single-player campaigns and will also support up to eight players in three different multiplayer modes.
For more information on D-Day, check out the game's new official Web site, which, on June 6 (the 60th anniversary of the Normandy landings), will be updated with an exclusive video that includes interviews with D-Day veterans.
