Developer Hyde is working on a Nintendo Switch and PC port of B.B. Studio's Digimon World: Next Order, which is set to launch next month. A roleplaying game with digital pet mechanics, Digimon World: Next Order is the sixth and most recent mainline entry in the Digimon World series. Its claim to fame is that it is the first Digimon World game to give you two Digimon partners at the start instead of just one. Below, we go over everything we know about Digimon World: Next Order, including when it's coming out and its PC system specs.
Previously, Hyde worked on 2022's Digimon Survive, taking over production of the game midway through development. In GameSpot's Digimon Survive review, I wrote, "Digimon Survive is regularly dragged down by tedious tactical combat, and it negatively affects other sections of the game too, like exploration and Digimon evolutions. It's not enough to ruin an otherwise great visual novel, but it does put quite a damper on the whole experience."
With your partners in tow, you can explore the Digital World, encountering virus-infected Digimon that can be defeated and recruited to your side. Your Digimon partners grow stronger with each battle. If you also care for them--which involves feeding, training, and disciplining them--they can gain the ability to Digivolve into more powerful forms.
As you continue to explore and recruit more Digimon, you can upgrade your home base--a flying city called Floatia--with new buildings and places for your Digimon to form their own little community.
As Digimon World: Next Order first launched on and was designed for PS Vita, it should make for a great choice on Switch (and PC for those who own a Steam Deck).
