Battlefield developer DICE has plans to bring its Frostbite game engine--the technology behind Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed: The Run--to mobile platforms.
The studio is currently advertising for a mobile software developer whose task will be to take Frostbite "to the next level." According to the job description, the position will require applicants to work within a larger team dedicated to bringing the Frostbite engine to mobile platforms, with requirements for applicants to have experience of at least one mobile operating system (iOS or Android).
Earlier this year, EA Games label boss Patrick Soderlund revealed that the current iteration of the game engine--Frostbite 2--was originally designed to support next-generation games.
Both Danger Close's Medal of Honor Warfighter and BioWare's 2013-dated Command & Conquer: Generals 2 will be powered by Frostbite 2.
In March, Electronic Arts announced the formation of EA Gothenburg, a Swedish shop that will focus exclusively on Frostbite 2 projects.
