The original Diablo has been released a very long time ago, and, despite its success, hasn't been ported to a lot of different hardware. The game is also not available on modern consoles, but some Nintendo Switch owners will be able to play it starting today.
DevilutionX, which is a version of Diablo which has been developed using code obtained by reverse engineering the original game, has been recently ported to Nintendo Switch. Not all consoles can run the game, however, as you need to be able to run homebrew to play the port. More information can be found here.
If you are curious how Diablo has been reverse engineered, you can check out the video below.
In 1996 Blizzard Entertainment released Diablo, an Action RPG that sold over 2.5 million copies and defined a genre. In 2018 a developer known as GalaXyHaXz almost completely reverse engineered the code in 4 months and released it as open source. How was this accomplished? Find out in this episode!
The only entry in the Diablo series officially available on Nintendo Switch is Diablo III: Eternal Collection, which includes all of the content released for the game with the addition of some exclusive extras.
