Microsoft now owns Activision Blizzard, and while the publisher’s games showing up on Game Pass is a conversation that probably won’t begin until next year, Xbox players can look forward to a bit of an exclusive deal on Diablo IV this weekend.
Through their “Free Play Days” Microsoft is offering to let Xbox owners play 10 hours of Diablo IV for free this weekend. No Game Pass subscription or other sign up is required. Just download and play. As part of Free Play Days, Microsoft is also letting players test out NBA 2K24, Lawn Mowing Simulator, and Hokko Life. This free-play weekend is currently ongoing and will last until Sunday at midnight.
And hey, if you like what you play during the Diablo IV free trial, the game is currently 25 percent off on Xbox, or $52.50, marked down from $70.
Blizzard recently launched Diablo IV Season 2, entitled “Season of Blood.” As the name implies, the update has a vampiric theme, and adds a variety of new content, along with crossplay and cross-progression. The game has also launched on Steam, although the response hasn’t been so great on the platform. Season of Blood launches alongside the huge Diablo IV 1.2 patch – you can get details on that here.
“At the behest of their dark master, a newly turned army of ravenous vampires has set their sights on Sanctuary. The master’s sinister plot remains a shrouded mystery but their pursuit for the blood of innocents has caused an uproar. You must learn to hunt the hunter—your fate depends on it.
Season of Blood will introduce a new Questline for you to uncover, Vampiric Powers to wield against their originators, 5 additional endgame bosses with the ability to target specific Unique and Uber Unique items as a drop, and more.”
Diablo IV can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. What do you think? Will you be trying out the game and its latest update this weekend? Or are you happy to continue holding out?
