Diablo IV Gets 25% More XP and Gold This Weekend Thanks to Mother’s Blessing-December 2024
Dec 23, 2024 2:07 AM

Yesterday, Blizzard Entertainment announced that Diablo IV players would be able to enjoy a 25% increased XP and gold rate across all realms (Eternal and Seasonal) and World Tiers this weekend, thanks to Lilith's 'Mother's Blessing'.

The boon will last from September 1st to 5th at 10 AM Pacific Time. It should be automatically active on any character, and you can check that it is by looking at the new in-game icon added near the potion count.

As reported yesterday, Blizzard is releasing a new Diablo IV patch today. Build 1.1.3 #44582 is focused on reducing Crowd Control effects applied to players.

At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023, Blizzard announced the next Season. Titled Season of Blood, it features a new questline, vampiric powers, five new endgame bosses, and several quality-of-life improvements requested by the community like Gems no longer taking up inventory space, search and filters functionality added to the stash, capacity upgrades carrying over into new Seasons, and some changes to the functionality of status effects and elemental resistances.

Diablo IV's Season of Blood will introduce a vampire hunter character called Erys, who's played by British actress Gemma Chan (Humans, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Transformers: The Last Knight, Crazy & Rich, Mary Queen of Scots, Captain Marvel, Eternals). Here's the brief story premise:

At the behest of their dark master, a newly turned army of ravenous vampires has set their sights on Sanctuary. The master’s sinister plot remains a shrouded mystery, but their pursuit for the blood of innocents has caused an uproar. You must learn to hunt the hunter—your fate depends on it.

Diablo IV launched strongly both from a commercial and critical standpoint. In my review of the game, I wrote:

Ultimately, Diablo IV is a success at launch, albeit one that stems from an obviously safe approach. However, as with any live service game, whether it will continue to attract players for a long time solely depends on the studio's ability to provide regular content and feature updates that address the player's feedback.

It was indeed in the live service part that Blizzard stumbled with Patch 1.1, which had to be reverted due to unpopular changes like XP grind and class nerfs. Blizzard is hoping Season 2 will go smoother.
