Devil May Cry 5 New York Comic Con 2018 Panel Showcases Dante’s Weapons And More-March 2024

We have seen plenty of Devil May Cry 5 action these past few months, but there's still a lot to know about the upcoming action game in development by Capcom. The Japanese publisher took advantage of this year's edition of the New York Comic Con to show more of the game, hosting a panel focused on it.

The full panel, which is around 1 hour long, focused on Dante's weapons, showcasing some really wacky stuff, such as the new firearm Faust Hat and the return of Cerberus from Devil May Cry 3, now featuring three different modes.

Interestingly enough, it seems like Dante will have more tricks up his sleeve than shown during the panel, as director Hideaki Itsuno confirmed that we have seen nothing yet.

Our own Chris had the chance to try out Devil May Cry 5 during Gamescom 2018 a few months back, and he was impressed by the game.

The biggest takeaway from the combat is that it’s just as fast-paced, engaging and a great spectacle as it has ever been. It’s only made all that more impressive by the simply astounding aesthetics within the game. Using the REngine, Devil May Cry 5 looks fantastic, every demon showing little details like goo dripping from them, horrible pulsating veins and more.

In addition to the visuals, the music is also fun and engaging. It ramps up in intensity depending on your actions in battle, with your increased rank also bringing in an increase in the audio. It’s a fun system that helps you keep track of your combat score. None of this should come as a huge surprise to anybody familiar to the series though. Adding to the great music is strong audio from the characters, monsters and the effects of battle. Everything just has that bit more weight to it.

Of course, one level isn’t exactly a great judge of a full title. From what I have seen, this is a great return to the Devil May Cry franchise. It looks, sounds and plays great. What more could you ask for?

Devil May Cry 5 launches on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 8th.
