Detective Pikachu Movie Brings on Goosebumps Director
Detective Pikachu Movie Brings on Goosebumps Director-September 2024
Sep 23, 2024 2:39 AM

Rob Letterman, who directed Shark Tale, Monsters vs. Aliens, Gulliver's Travels, and Goosebumps, will direct the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The live-action movie will star Detective Pikachu, and will apparently have ties to the Detective Pikachu video game, which was released in Japan this year. The game stars Pikachu in the role of a detective, and unlike many other Pokemon, this Pikachu is capable of speaking. One can only hope that Danny DeVito will go on to voice Pikachu in the live-action movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new movie is the first in a "planned franchise." The movies are being produced by Warcraft studio Legendary. The studio acquired the rights to make a Pokemon movie back in July. The film is apparently being fast-tracked and will begin production in 2017.

Earlier this summer reports stated that "all Hollywood" sought the rights to a Pokemon movie after the massive success of Pokemon Go. In April, rumors surfaced of a bidding war for Pokemon movie rights between Legendary and Warner Bros.

No date has been set for the Detective Pikachu movie's release. What would you like to see from the film? Let us know in the comments below!
