THQ announced on Thursday that it has acquired the rights from Psygnosis to create a version of Destruction Derby for the Nintendo 64. Looking Glass Studios, known for past titles such as the Ultima Underworld series and Thief: The Dark Project, will be doing the development honors for the Nintendo 64 Destruction Derby.
"The Destruction Derby franchise is famous for huge, multicar smash-ups and fast action racing," stated Erik Gloerson, managing director of Looking Glass Studios' console division. "Our goal is to build on that intensity with larger and varying race environments, a reward system including numerous production vehicles, and unique play modes - who could resist playing a game of 'hot potato' with up to ten other moving vehicles?"
Looking Glass Studios is claiming improved graphics, more vehicles, tracks. and arenas, and new play modes for the latest Destruction Derby. Look for it on shelves in time for the 1999 holiday season.
