As part of the first Bungie Weekly Update of 2016 today, the developer announced that Destiny is getting a Valentine's Day in-game event. Called "Crimson Days," the update is described as being similar in scale to the 2015 Halloween event, Festival of the Lost. This is Destiny's first Valentine's Day event.
Crimson Days begins February 9 and runs for one week. As part of the update, Destiny's social space, the Tower, is getting a visual overhaul themed around the color red. Check it out above.
Additionally, Destiny's Crucible mode will add a new 2v2 variant called Crimson Doubles.
"It features a special twist, born of new gameplay and mechanics that only battle-tested star-crossed lovers will appreciate," Bungie said. "You'll need a dancing partner--preferably one that compliments your fighting style. The two of you will have a chance to earn some 'sweet' loot together in the Crucible. To receive your gifts, you'll have to put your differences aside and fight well as a couple."
Senior designer Leif Johansen will share more details on Crimson Doubles as part of next week's Bungie Weekly Update. We'd also expect to learn about the loot at that time.
Bungie also announced today that the limited-time multiplayer event Iron Banner will return January 26 at 10 AM PST and end on February 2 at 12 AM PST. The Rift gametype will be played for this event.
Gear rewards include new weapons and armor, some of which are exclusive to PlayStation platforms. You can see a few pieces of gear in the gallery below.
