Earning Eris Morn's new crop of weapons and armor in Destiny 2's Shadowkeep expansion requires a little more than just completing an activity. Using the Lectern of Enchantment you unlock during the story campaign, you can craft exactly the gear you want--but you'll also have to work for it. Each piece of Dreambane gear requires you to defeat a specific Nightmare found somewhere on the moon, and that's only the first step. Killing the Nightmare gives you Essence, which you can use to craft into something useful.

　　The Essence of Obscurity often seems to come from various chests around the moon, and completing its quest will allow you to unlock the Every Waking Moment submachine gun. Each of the Essence quests requires you to locate a specific item hidden on the moon, though. If you're not familiar with its twisting, dark tunnels, it can be tough to find what you're looking for. For the Essence of Obscurity, you need the Withered Plumes item, located in the Circle of Bones. Here's how to find your way to the location, and where the item is hidden when you get there.

How to find the Circle of Bones

Spawn in at the Sorrow's Harbor transmat zone.Hop on your sparrow and head south into the Hellmouth. From there, turn north and go into the Hive building at the north end of the area.Turn down the stairs and head into the tunnels. Keep going through the Gatehouse area and continue deeper.Keep walking until you reach the Circle of Bones. You'll have paths out to your right and left, as well as a big room in front of you. Go forward through the big room until you hit the edge of the pit.Turn right and follow the pit all the way around to the far end. You should get a marker as you approach the dead end.Grab the Withered Plumes, which are waiting near the wall when you can't go any farther around the pit.Finding the Withered Plumes is the most difficult part of the quest, but it's not over. You'll also have to get some weapon kills. Here's the rest of what's required to complete the quest.

　　

Essence of Obscurity Quest Steps

Complete activities on the moon (patrols, public events, Lost Sectors)Earn 50 submachine gun killsFind the Withered PlumesOnce you complete the quest to cleanse the Essence, return to the Lectern of Enchantment to unlock your gun. You'll also notice that once you've completed the Essence of Obscurity once, it becomes available at your Lectern for purchase again. This allows you to complete the quest over and over to farm for different rolls on your Every Waking Moment, since its perks are randomized. The good news is, you don't have to go find the Withered Plumes every time you want to make a new SMG. Once you've got the item, that portion of the quest is completed forever.

　　Buying a new Essence will cost you, though: Each Essence requires one Phantasmal Core, which only drops rarely from boss Nightmare enemies. You can also purchase Phantasmal Cores with 10 Phantasmal Fragments, which are easier to come by--any smaller minion Nightmare can drop Phantasmal Fragments, and you'll pick them out on the moon when doing other activities. If you're short on Fragments, you can purchase them, as well; you'll need 25 Helium Filaments for each one, which you'll find scattered around the moon and as rewards for opening chests and completing patrols, public events, and Lost Sectors.
