The recently released Destiny 2 has hit over 1.2 million concurrent players, developer Bungie has announced.
The news was announced through Bungie’s official Twitter account this weekend. “Thank you all so much for playing, Guardians!”, the tweet reads. “Right now Destiny 2 has over 1.2 Million concurrent players online. We'll see you in the wild.”
The game was officially released for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last week. "A great story. Awesome characters. A menacing villain. A clear mission. A gorgeous, expansive world to explore. And of course, great, innovative gameplay that is fun to play solo or with friends. Destiny 2 has it all," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision upon the game’s launch. "Whether you're one of the millions of fans who are already a part of this community, or you are brand-new to the Destiny world, this game is something all different kinds of fans will enjoy and appreciate. We can't wait to share it with you."
Destiny 2 will also release on PC next month. The PC beta went live on August 29. The game was officially announced back in March of this year. “Destiny was the biggest launch of a new console video game franchise ever. Along with our incredibly talented partners at Bungie, we are focusing on making Destiny 2 even better, with state of the art first person action, an awesome new story, great characters, and thoughtful innovations that make the game more accessible to all different kinds of players," said Eric Hirshberg. “We're also bringing Destiny 2 to the PC platform for the first time. Destiny 2 will make an already great game franchise better than ever.”
