Demon's Souls, Dark Souls director named president of From Software-March 2024
Mar 19, 2025 1:26 PM

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the man who created and directed acclaimed role-playing games Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, is now president of franchise developer From Software. Gamasutra reports today that Miyazaki's promotion was part of many personnel changes at From Software, including Demon's Souls producer Masanori Takeuchi taking on the role of senior managing director.

Gamasutra notes that Miyazaki joined From Software, based on Japan, in 2004. He was instrumental in the creation of both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, titles for which he also served as director. He contributed to this year's Dark Souls II in a supervising role while he worked on another, unannounced game.

Miyazaki's promotion to president of From Software comes just a few weeks after the studio was purchased by Kadokawa, which gamers know best as the publisher of video games like Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer Is Dead.
