Fox's superhero movie Deadpool was released in theaters two weeks ago and has been a huge hit. By the latest count, the R-rated action movie has made around $500 million at the global box office against a $58 million production budget. Now, we've learned that this success means star and producer Ryan Reynolds is in for a big payday beyond his upfront fee.

　　Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Reynolds was paid $2 million upfront to appear in and produce Deadpool and is the only actor who is entitled to performance-based compensation.

　　As a result of Deadpool's success, Reynolds will make at least $10 million and "possibly much more" if it clears $800 million. He is already on-board for the sequel, and sources say his representatives at talent agency WME are looking to renegotiate for "significantly" more money than the first time around.

　　Deadpool director Tim Miller, 50, was reportedly paid $250,000 up front to helm the film, which was his first directorial effort. That sum is a "semi-standard" for first-time directors, according to THR. Like Reynolds, Miller will also see bonuses tied to Deadpool's performance. After clearing $150 million in North America (which it did in just four days), Miller was reportedly paid a bonus of as much as $150,000.

　　THR further explains that Fox is also planning to pay "goodwill" bonuses to Deadpool's other "key players," including writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. A specific dollar amount for this bonus was not mentioned, but it is likely to be substantial, as Fox is interested in keeping the creative team together for the sequel.

　　Reynolds and the writers are signed on for the Deadpool follow-up, but Miller has not yet reached a deal with Fox.

　　Given the huge success of Deadpool, it might have been assumed that producers would seek a higher budget to make a more spectacular sequel. This may not be the case, however.

　　"We don't want $150 million to go make the next movie; that's not Deadpool," Wernick said earlier this month. "Deadpool doesn't lift cities up into the air or battle aliens coming down to earth, that's just not Deadpool. So we're happy in that little small budget range that they have us in; we don't wanna blow this next one out."
