Deadpool 2 Won't Start Filming Until After January-October 2024
Oct 19, 2024 9:31 AM

After the exit of Deadpool 2's director, Collider reports that production on the sequel won't start in January, as previously suggested. Sources tell the publication that before director Tim Miller left the movie, filming was planned to begin in March.

As Collider notes further, casting was just underway when Miller exited, and now that there's need for a new director, the January start date is even more unlikely. Additionally, with Miller not returning, Deadpool 2's composer followed, saying a Deadpool movie without Miller "just does not sit right with [him]."

Miller left Deadpool 2 over creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds, which Mashable reports came after the actor was given more creative control over the sequel, in addition to a bigger payday. Miller, on the other hand, has moved on to produce a Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which is a family-friendly, CG/live-action hybrid.

As for Miller's replacement on Deadpool 2, John Wick helmsman David Leitch has been reported as a "strong frontrunner" to take over. Other directors are also said to be under consideration, though no names have been revealed.

Deadpool 2 has no confirmed release date to hit, but we'll keep you up to date on all the news regarding the much-anticipated sequel.
