Dead Space: Extraction: Nintendo Press Conference Impressions
Dead Space: Extraction: Nintendo Press Conference Impressions-November 2024
Nov 17, 2024 8:34 AM

Touting its third-party collaborations, Nintendo used this morning's E3 conference to talk more about three of its upcoming Wii titles: Sega's The Conduit, Capcom's Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, and EA's Dead Space Extraction. Unfortunately, Nintendo said nothing new about the latter, save for airing a very short trailer.

A prequel to EA and Visceral Games' third-person action horror title Dead Space, Dead Space: Extraction has been built from the ground up exclusively for the Wii as a first-person shooter. The game explores a series of events taking place on the USG Ishimura, where you are part of a crew that arrives on the ship just as it undergoes quarantine for an unknown infection.

The very short trailer began with a look inside the USG Ishimura, showing different environments and wide-panning shots of rooms with scattered furniture.

This cut to the next shot, where we saw the necromorphs, which are human corpses transformed by the alien infection, dragging their mangled bodies toward the camera, all bloody and evil.

The next scenes overlapped with each other to show one of the new weapons in the game--the arch welder--in full use. The weapon shoots electricity that bounces from one necromorph to another when they're standing in close proximity.

Keep an eye out for more hands-on information of the game from this year's E3 show floor and our review of Dead Space: Extraction before its release on September 29.
