A remastered version Dead Island may be coming to current-generation consoles, if a listing on a retailer website is to be believed.
South African site Loot.co.za has displayed a product page for the game, which has been given the title Dead Island Definitive Edition. The retailer also suggests the reboot will ship on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Koch Media, parent company of publisher Deep Silver, declined to comment when approached by Gamespot.
If the listing is accurate, it remains unclear what upgrades have been made since Dead Island's original 2011 release, and what exactly the new version of the game will include.
Originally scheduled for release at the end of 2015, Dead Island 2 has since been pushed back to 2016. In July, Koch Media dropped the game's developer, Yager, after " careful consideration."
Dead Island 2 will be the first in the series not to be developed by Techland, which has since gone on to make rival zombie slasher Dying Light.
Dead Island was met with mixed reviews upon release. Gamespot's review praised its open world setting and fun melee combat but criticised the game's uneven visual quality and weak characters.
