According to Bloomberg Japan, Capcom of Japan has announced that Resident Evil Code: Veronica for the Sega Dreamcast is scheduled for a March 2000 North American release. Meanwhile, in Japan, the game is expected to release on Feb. 3, 2000.
Capcom also announced its revised forecast for the fiscal year, with an expected profit gain of 4.8 billion yen (about US$45.5 million), a profit 3.4 times greater than that of the previous year. Sales of the company's titles rose 27 percent from the previous year to 38.5 billion yen (about $365 million). Strong sales of it two PlayStation games, Dino Crisis and Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, were possible contributors to the rise of company profits. Dino Crisis has exceeded its original goal to sell one million units in Japan. That number is expected to increase to 2.4 million units with the help of the overseas market. Resident Evil 3 Nemesis was expected to ship an initial 1.7 million units, but it is now forecasted to sell 3.6 million units within the 1999 fiscal year.
For the remainder of this fiscal year, the company plans to release Resident Evil 2 for the Nintendo 64 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica for the Sega Dreamcast.
