Those of you familiar with Dave & Busters know the routine - show up, have a burger, knock down a few alcoholic refreshments, and play games the rest of the night. Previously, the large-scale adult dining and entertainment club chain had top-of-the-line arcade games and other rarities. Recently, the Other Side, a Seattle-based computer entertainment company, leased certain outlets in Dave & Busters to provide networked multiplayer computer games. But Dave & Busters has never really had anything really biglocations.
Until now, that is.
The Dave & Busters location in Hollywood, Fla. (just a bit north of Miami) unveiled its Million Dollar Midway on Thursday to a big crowd and audience, including Hollywood mayor Mara Giulianti and other city officials. A new 8,000 square-foot expansion features a number of large-screen simulators, like the four-player boat racing game Hydro Thunder and the basketball game NBA on NBC, carnival rides and a 60-seat private party room. There's even a laser tag-style arena, called Ground Zero, for 24 players.
"We have all the latest high-tech simulators, as well as the traditional favorites," said General Manager James P. Hall. "Where else can you find so much great food and fun under one roof? It's the ultimate place for adults to play."
