The definitive version of Darksiders II 'Darksiders II: Deathinitive edition' has been listed on the websites of major retailers. According to the listing the definitive edition will release on October 27th for Xbox One and PS4.
Retailers Amazon, Gamestop, Walmart and Bestbuy have listed the remaster for a release date on October 27th, 2015. This date hasn't been officially confirmed by publisher Nordic Games. We've contacted them for confirmation and we'll report back when they do. Interestingly, this is also Halo 5's release date - not a very smart move if you would ask me.
The deathinivite edition is a remaster of the 2012 action title, but according to developer Gunfire Games it isn't merely a simple port to the next-gen consoles.
"We've put a lot of time to improve both the visuals and gameplay to make it on par with current releases. It's been fun adding more polish to a game that is near and dear to our hearts."
Most of the Gunfire crew comes from Virgil Games - the developer of the original Darksiders. The Deathinitive edition will run at a resolution of 1080P on both consoles.
We've included a comparison video between the original Darksiders II and the Deathinitive Edition below. The video is courtesy of Rob Cram.
"We are excited to be involved in the HD upgrade for Darksiders II (technically the original release was HD, so let's just call this mega-ultra-super HD)", said Gunfire on its website.
