Dark Souls 3, the new entry of the popular series developed by From Software, will only release in North America and Europe in a little ove a week, but several reviewers and streamers have been able to play the PC version of the game since late last month. A few hours ago, one of these lucky streamers has shared something new on the PC version of the game.
YouTube user BR34K, who has shared plenty of Dark Souls 3 footage in the past few days, including a 4K Benchmark video, has revealed on reddit that he experienced performance issues in late game areas, where he had difficulty getting a good framerate in 1080p.
If from fix the issues that are present for all, it should be fine. I posted a benchmark of low and max settings on my channel, showing the percentage difference. Big difference between low and max performance-wise, but next to no difference in visual fidelity.
Late game has abselutely terrible performance at times though. I can get 60 fps in 4k on low early game, but there are areas in late game where I get 20 fps in 1080p (gtx 980 / i7 4770k)
As Dark Souls 3 has yet to be released officially on PC, a day one patch might solve these performance issues. BR34K is going to share some late game benchmarks as soon as possible, so we will soon be able how big these performance issues actually are.
Dark Souls 3 will launch next week, on April 12th, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. We will let you know more about these late game performance issues as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
