Roku announced that it was partnering with Funny Or Die to produce a feature film about Grammy Award and iconic comedic musician "Weird Al" Yankovic starring Daniel Radcliffe as the Weird One himself. The biopic, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, will be available exclusively on The Roku Channel with production beginning in February. No additional cast has been announced.

　　"When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I'm very happy to say we're on schedule," said Yankovic in a press release. "And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for."

　　"When Weird Al first sat me down against my will and told me his life story, I didn't believe any of it, but I knew that we had to make a movie about it," writer and director, Eric Appel, added. Appel, whose credits include directing episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Son of Zorn, New Girl, and even the Funny or Die short about "Weird" Al over ten years ago, will finally direct his first feature film with this production.

Weird Al is a comic genius and his impact on pop culture, his mastery of the music video, his award-winning music, and his incredible life are a perfect fit for the talented producers at FOD," said Henry Muñoz III, Funny Or Die Chairman and executive producer.

　　"We are honored to partner with Roku, Tango, and our director Eric Appel on this important movie," Muñoz continued in a press release. "Weird has brought together a weird and wonderful team of creative people, to tell the story of a man who has made people laugh and sing across the world."

　　Yankovic has recorded more than 150 parodies, as well as his original songs, and has performed more than 1,000 live shows within his 40-year career. He's also won five Grammy Awards and a further 11 nominations including four gold records, and six platinum records in the United States. His first top ten Billboard album (Straight Outta Lynwood) and single ("White & Nerdy") were both released in 2006, almost three decades into his career.

　　Outside of UHF, Weird Al also starred in his own television show, the short-lived The Weird Al Show on CBS. He's also guest-starred in countless animated programs and sitcoms becoming a pop culture icon along the way.
