Cypress Hill will be providing music for the soundtrack for Interplay's upcoming urban gangsta title, Kingpin. The title itself, developed by Xatrix Entertainment, will use new tunes from the group's upcoming album, Cypress Hill IV (the album will release on Oct. 6), along with songs from the band's other albums.
Powered by the Quake II engine, Kingpin will immerse gamers into a fictional retro-tech urban jungle where would-be players will set off on an episodic adventure complete with underground gang violence.
"Cypress Hill's sound is exactly what we had in mind when creating Kingpin," states Drew Markham, president and creative director for Xatrix Entertainment. "The hard-core sounds of hip-hop are making the natural progression from the stage and big screen and into the interactive gaming industry."
So has Interplay gone insane in the membrane? We'll see when the game releases next spring.
