Last month, CD Projekt Red announced plans to make it easy for streamers to play Cyberpunk 2077 (and its music) without issue. But with numerous bugs impacting the game, it turns out the tool that was intended to disable copyrighted music is not functioning as intended.

　　By turning on the "Disable Copyrighted Music" setting, streamers were meant to be able to broadcast the game without potentially receiving DMCA strikes. Shortly after the game's launch, CD Projekt Red acknowledged that one song was accidentally slipping through this filter, potentially opening the door for DMCA issues--a serious problem facing streamers. Now it turns out there are "additional instances" where copyrighted songs can play even with the setting turned on, prompting CD Projekt Red to recommend that streamers mute the game's music entirely for the time being.

　　"It has come to our attention that there are additional instances in the game which might put a DMCA strike on your channel," CDPR wrote on Twitter. "Fix is on the way but until then, we'd like to ask you to mute music in the game's settings entirely. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused."

　　The feature is meant to do more than merely mute the music during these sections of the game. Instead, it will replace them with music that won't cause issues during streams. There are more than 150 custom songs on the radio of Night City.

　　Cyberpunk 2077's soundtrack features songs from high-profile artists such as Grimes, Rat Boy, and Run the Jewels, and veteran Nine Inch Nails and Angels & Airwaves drummer Ilan Rubin was also involved. Keanu Reeves' character Johnny Silverhand fronts the fictional band Samurai, which is actually legendary Swedish punk outfit Refused. The group recorded the "Chippin' In" song heard when Reeves was first introduced at E3 2019.

　　Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed multiple times, first planned for release in April before being bumped to September, November, and finally December 10. It's out now on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Stadia, with Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions eventually coming as free upgrades.
