Crytek Employees Claim They’re Not Being Paid; Payment Delays Over The Past Six Months-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 7:28 PM

Crytek employees claim that they’re not being paid once again, with some workers claiming that they haven’t been paid for more than 3 months.

The initial report originated from website Letsplayvideogames yesterday. Sources close to the website have allegedly claimed that Crytek’s Bulgarian studio, Crytek Black Sea, hasn’t been paying wages for the past three and a half months.

The sources, who have been privately verified by LPVG, say that the Bulgarian studio has not had any wages paid for the last three months. Employees at the studio were told that the problem would be resolved via a German bank loan (Crytek’s headquarters are in Germany) a month and a half ago, however, this has not come through yet and there is no timescale as to if or when this will happen.

Complaints have also surfaced on Twitter, Reddit, and UK job website, Glassdoor. Down below you’ll read what an alleged Crytek worker posted on Reddit.

I'm not sure where else to turn at this point. This has happened in the past a few times, but never for this long. Management never gives anyone a heads up, and it isn’t clear to me if they are getting paid or even informed from the owners.

The last time this happened we were told it would be the last time and yet it is happening again. Many of my co-workers moved from out of the country to work here and are unable to leave because they cannot afford to get back home due to their wages being withheld for so long.

People are afraid to speak out because we are continuously told “Thank you for your continued efforts through this difficult time” and “You don’t understand because you don’t see the whole picture like we do— wages are coming soon.”

Crytek hasn’t been making a profit for quite some time, and the studio faced bankruptcy back in 2014. The studio later announced that it had sold the rights to the Homefront IP to publisher Deep Silver and Crytek UK employees would be moved over to Deep Silver’s Dambuster Studios.

“As we look to cement Crytek's future, this strategic deal with [Deep Silver parent company] Koch Media would allow us to continue with our ambitious goals to become an online publisher," Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli said in a statement.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn more on this matter.
