Disney has announced that its 101 Dalmatians prequel, Cruella, will be streaming exclusively on Disney+ for free to subscribers on August 27. The film originally released on Premier Access on May 28, which subscribers paid an extra $30 if they wanted to watch it.
The live-action film grossed $226.2 million at the box office on its opening weekend and made $85.9 million domestic and $136 million internationally.
Cruella follows the origin story of 101 Dalmatians' Cruella in 1970s London. Academy Award winning actor Emma Stone stars as a young Cruella trying to make a name for herself in the fashion industry. She eventually comes into the crosshairs of fashion icon Baroness von Hellman, played by two-time Oscar winner Emma Thompson, and their conflict sets in motion the path that turns Cruella into the villainess Cruella de Ville.

The film has a Metacrtitic metascore of 59 and 7.2 user score and is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an audience score of 97% and a 74% Tomatometer score.
While the movie didn't get a pandemic-free release, where audiences felt comfortable going to movie theaters, Cruella has a sequel already in the works. Director Craig Gillespie and writer Tony McNamara are set to return for the next film, alongside Stone, who will reprise her devilish role.
