Creative Labs announced that more than 50 titles shipping this holiday season will feature support for Creative's new audio standard, the Environmental Audio platform, which adds reverb, echo, acoustic properties for room size, and other effects that Creative says "place the game player in the middle of the action.... Environmental Audio technology goes beyond 3D positional audio sounds will appear to come from all corners of the room or space, adding effects consistent with the room acoustics, position of the player, source of the sound, and many other cues." The Environmental Audio platform is based on the Sound Blaster Live family of audio accelerators.
Titles that will feature Environmental Audio support include Activision's Heavy Gear II; Bungie's Myth II; Dreamworks' Trespasser; EA's SimCity 3000, Madden 99, and FIFA 99; Fox Interactive's Alien Vs. Predator; and Ion Storm's Daikatana.
