The hugely popular romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians continued its reign at the top of the box office chart over the Labor Day weekend. The movie remained at No.1 in its third week since release and crossed the $100 million mark in the US to take an estimated total of $117 million to date. Worldwide the movie has made $139 million so far, from a production budget of just $30 million.
The big budget shark thriller The Meg remained in second place, with an estimated $10.4 million weekend take. Mission Impossible: Fallout continues to do impressive business and actually rose back up the chart, moving up one place to No.4. With a total US gross of $206.3 million to date, Fallout is already the third biggest movie in the series, but with only $9 million between Fallout and Mission Impossible II's total gross, it might yet emerge as the most successful.

Now Playing: Crazy Rich Asians - Official Trailer
The highest new entry in the top 10 was the acclaimed thriller Searching, which expanded the number of theaters it is playing in and rose from No.22 to No.4. The week's biggest new release was the historical thriller Operation Finale, which features Star Wars' Oscar Issac and made an estimated $6.01 in its first three days.
The bottom half of the box office Top 10 consisted of titles that have stuck around for a few weeks, including the puppet comedy The Happytime Murders, the adventure movie Alpha, and Spike Lee's BlackKklansman. This Friday sees the release of the Conjuring spin-off The Nun and the action thriller Peppermint, with The Predator following a week later, so expect plenty of change in the chart over the next couple of weeks.
